How to use Scan to PDF

Point your camera at a page and the scanner finds its edges, flattens the perspective and removes shadows, giving you a clean, flat scan instead of a tilted photo. Scan as many pages as you need, reorder them, choose a filter for each and save a single PDF. Receipts, ID cards, passports, books and whiteboards each have a dedicated mode.

  1. Tap Open camera and allow access. Your phone’s rear camera is selected automatically.

  2. Hold the page in view. When the outline turns green and the ring fills, the page is captured. You can also press the shutter yourself.

  3. Review your pages, adjust corners or filters if needed, then save the PDF. Turn on OCR to make the text searchable.

How it works

Questions

Are my scans uploaded anywhere?

No. The camera image is analysed in your browser and the PDF is created on your phone. Nothing is sent to a server, and the camera turns off as soon as you close the scanner.

Do I need to install an app?

No. The scanner works in Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android. You can add it to your home screen if you want it to feel like an app.

Can I scan both sides of an ID card onto one page?

Yes. Choose the ID card mode, capture the front and then the back. When saving, both sides can be placed on one page at their real size, ready to print.

What if the edges are not detected?

Capture the page anyway and drag the four corners into place in the review screen. A magnifier helps you place them precisely on touch screens.

Can I scan a book?

Yes. Book mode splits each two-page spread into separate pages. Curved pages are flattened to the outline of the spread but the curvature itself is not straightened, so press the book as flat as you can.
