Privacy
DocsNest is built so that your documents never leave your device. This page explains exactly what happens to your files and what data the website itself handles.
Your documents are processed locally
When you open a file, your browser reads it into the memory of the current tab. Every operation (rendering, editing, compression, OCR, encryption, redaction) runs inside that tab using JavaScript and WebAssembly engines delivered by this website.
Documents are never uploaded to our servers or to any third party. We have no server component that receives files.
What is never stored
- Your PDF files, images and camera captures
- Text extracted by OCR
- Signatures you draw, type or upload
- Passwords for opening or protecting files
- Document metadata
Temporary data in your browser
While a tool is open, previews and intermediate results exist only in the tab’s memory. When you finish, close the workspace or close the tab, they are released. Temporary download links are revoked after use. Documents are not written to local storage, IndexedDB or the offline cache.
Camera
The scanner asks for camera permission only when you press the scan button. The video is analysed on your device to find the page edges. The camera is switched off as soon as you close the scanner, and nothing is recorded or transmitted.
Offline app and cache
To work offline, a service worker stores the application’s own files: pages, code, fonts, the OCR language models you have used and the image processing engine. It is designed never to store your documents.
Preferences
Your interface language choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage. Nothing else is kept between visits.
Analytics
If the site operator enables privacy-friendly analytics, only anonymous counts are collected: pages viewed, tools opened and completed, and a generic error category. File names, file contents, extracted text, passwords and signatures are never sent. No advertising trackers are used.
Hosting and server logs
The website is served as static files. Like any web server, the hosting provider may record standard access logs (such as IP address, time and requested page) for security and reliability. These logs never contain your documents.
